The Temple, and specifically its Elder and a few of her most senior, trusted Keepers, makes up one part of the organizational structure of Keldarra with the other part the Council of Seven which is the government for each of the cities in the land.
The Temple has an hierarchy that begins with the entry into this place of learning and devotion to a skill that’s hard to master and only few in the land know exists. A suitable young girl, demonstrating their skills sufficiently, would then be admitted as a Temple Maiden. After enough training she advances to be an Acolyte – which Marrida is at the time of the start of the first book in the epic fantasy series The Wolf Riders of Keldarra – before they become a Keeper. The Temple is led by the Elder.
